Programs

An experimental culinary project, A Neighbor Cooking, explores the social dynamics of personal engagement around breakfast. Created by Marisa Takal with goal of gathering friends, friends of friends, neighbors, and strangers to escape the banality of nighttime small talk, A Neighbor Cooking encourages participants to take joy in daytime conversation over a warm morning meal.

A Neighbor Cooking provides affordable healthy meals in safe, comforting, and inclusive spaces. All meals are paid through a suggested donation (no one will be turned away). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Downtown Women’s Center.

Please join us for brunch at ICA LA within the Election Reform! Store.

Marisa Takal received her BFA from San Francisco Art Institute in 2013. Takal has since shown in numerous solo, duo, and group shows at such venues as: Night Gallery, Los Angeles; Otis College of Art and Design Bolsky Gallery, Los Angeles; Loyal Gallery, Stockholm; Jeffrey Stark, New York; Company Gallery, New York; Alter Space, San Francisco; and M+B, Los Angeles. In 2016, she was named the recipient of the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Artist Award and the Stanley Hollander Award. She lives and works in Los Angeles.

ICA LA’s learning and engagement programs are made possible by the 5,000 Kids Fund and Fieldwork.
