In this enriching workshop, led by AL Schulte of Pelvic Sanctuary, study and explore the intricate world of pelvic anatomy, function, and common issues affecting all genders. Enjoyable movement practices—including the famous Kegels!—and discussion will provide a thorough introduction to gender-affirming care to bridge the gap in pelvic health education and services.
ICA LA and Pelvic Sanctuary also welcome artist/activist Badly Licked Bear, who will present the release of Pelvic Floor Whore #3, SICK and SEXXY, a new zine that includes writing by Badly Licked Bear, Coco Celeste, Carta Monir, and Kayla Tange — four women who live and work at the intersection of sex, art, and sickness — reflecting on the delicate balance between the inside and outside of bodies and their independence. The zine also features a special coloring book insert by the late poet and artist Bob Flanagan, who lived a radical and productive push-pull existence with cystic fibrosis.
This program is presented in collaboration with Pelvic Sanctuary. Pelvic Sanctuary, is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization committed to providing inclusive pelvic health education, advocacy, and resources. Their team is built by the very communities we serve, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, Sex Workers, BIPOC communities, and transgender youth. Pelvic Sanctuary offers pelvic health workshops, educational resources, and community-building programs to empower individuals and advocate for broader systemic change. Through strong partnerships with local organizations, Pelvic Sanctuary works to improve health equity and make pelvic health education accessible to underserved communities in Los Angeles and beyond.
