Cavepainting: Peter Doig, Chris Ofili, Laura Owens

This publication, produced on the occasion of Cavepainting, an artist-directed project at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, reproduces an email conversation among three painters with strong overlapping interests - Peter Doig, Chris Ofili and Laura Owens - whose voices evolve into a freewheeling yet cogent exegesis on the state of contemporary painting. The catalog includes screened photographs documenting their work in process, with a concluding essay by British journalist and art critic Jonathan Jones describing the artists’ sensibilities and process within a philosophical context.
