Curator’s Council is a group of contemporary art advocates and collectors who are passionate about exploring art spaces across Los Angeles and eager to learn about the diverse practices of artists living and working in this city and beyond. Members enjoy guided opportunities throughout the year to artist studios, museums, galleries, and other nonprofit arts spaces to engage directly with artists, curators, and collectors. Dedicated to supporting the arts generally, and the museum specifically, Curator’s Council members contribute critical annual support for ICA LA’s singular exhibition program, which illuminates important untold stories and emerging voices in contemporary art and culture. Additionally, members are invited to participate in ICA LA’s travel program, which offers special access travel opportunities across the U.S. and abroad.

Fieldwork Council is comprised of ambassadors and arts advocates who are curious to explore the city and learn from artists and individuals committed to art and social action. Dedicated to supporting the diverse audiences that ICA LA serves, Fieldwork Council members provide annual support for the museum’s Learning and Engagement program which specifically creates access points for exhibitions and also examines more broadly the intersections of art, culture, community, and justice. Inspired by this mission, the Fieldwork Council researches areas such as arts education, programs supporting unhoused communities, the environment, food systems, overlooked Los Angeles histories, transportation, civic engagement and voting rights, and more. Throughout the year, members enjoy a process of engaging with local communities – out in the field – with tours, workshops, and travel with artists, educators, and activists in order to gain insight into the cultural research and fieldwork pedagogy behind ICA LA programs. This one-of-a-kind patron group fosters engagement beyond the museum’s walls and members benefit from an enriched relationship to ICA LA staff, Board, and other patron groups.
