In 2012, alongside her retrospective at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, Mickalene Thomas created a limited edition of four Melamine serving trays. These trays, featuring unique abstract patterns and Thomas’ signature, were sold in the museum’s “Gracie” shop as a fundraiser. They are part of a boxed set of 250, each tray sealed in its original plastic sleeve with a museum-issued certificate of authenticity.
