Final days to experience Adrian Piper’s ‘What It's Like, What It Is #3’ closing this Sunday, January 6 👀 For over 50 years, Adrian Piper has employed a range of diverse mediums to investigate the political, philosophical, psychological and spiritual potential of Conceptual art. Piper’s presentation @theicala in conjunction with ‘Adrian Piper: Concepts and Intuitions, 1965-2016’ @hammer_museum addresses social issues by way of form and content. The large-scale composed of a white amphitheater, a central column, a surround of mirrors and four #video screens recalls the work of minimalist #sculpture and the agency of the white cube space that confront racial assumptions, both physically and metaphorically. “I’m not scary. I’m not lazy. I’m not dirty. I’m not evil” is spoken by an African American male on each side of the monumental column. Since it’s conception in 1991, ‘What It's Like, What It Is #3’ is as relevant today as it was over two decades ago.
