‘Maybe some of us will change this’: a hopeful phrase turned into an ambitious translation, transcending conventional language. Artists David Brognon and Stéphanie Rollin @brognonrollin present a new exhibition in the Annex @theicala later this month. During their residency @flax_la and Metropolitan Continuation High School @metropolitanhighlausd in downtown #LosAngeles, the artist duo were inspired by the phrase ‘maybe some of us will change this’ from a student essay about justice that reflected a desire to address current tensions around #migration, the #borderwall and intolerance. How could such a message travel across a border or defy a wall? Find out how on our Instagram in the run up to the opening of ‘Maybe some of us will change this’ on Sunday, March 17 | #comingsoon #brognonrollin #icala

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Spring programming with #LosAngeles-based artist, Patty Chang. ‘The Wandering Lake, 2009–2017’ presents a groundbreaking project that combines Chang’s work across varying platforms. The exhibition will explore issues the artist observes in contemporary society - placing her own body in intense situations in responsive #performance and #film. Organized by the Queens Museum, New York, ‘The Wandering Lake, 2009–2017’ will allow visitors @theicala to navigate through a multimedia installation that integrates video projection, photography, sculpture, publication, and performance as one expansive body of work - opening March 17 | #comingsoon #pattychang #icala

Can you name 5 women artists? This March we join the global network of museums + cultural organisations marking Women’s History Month @womeninthearts. #LosAngeles-based artist Patty Chang will introduce #5WomenArtists for the museum alongside her exhibition, ‘The Wandering Lake, 2009–2017’ opening March 17 @theicala. Chang’s first subject is American feminist artist Eleanor Antin: “‘CARVING: A Traditional Sculpture’ originally made in 1972 by Antin (pictured), was a seminal piece that documented dieting in order to lose weight over 37 days. It mirrors the Greek tradition of carving a human body from a block of stone until the perfect form emerged. Antin recreated the piece 45 years later, extending the performance to 100 days, bringing to mind depictions of the female #body, #visibility of the ageing female body, self-portraiture and vulnerability” | #elanorantin #pattychang #icala
