“Following along the longest aqueduct in the world built in China, I peed every time I came upon it” - recounts Patty Chang as she travelled towards Denzhou from Xianghua. The artist stored the plastic water bottles after filling them and marked them with the corresponding time and place - enroute her driver asked if the bottles were filled with ice tea. The South-to-North Water Diversion Project was relocating farmers to make way for the aqueduct as well as imminent industrialisation. Chang later redesigned the plastic water bottles into urinary devices and had the designs hand-blown in borosilicate glass. 32 glass bottles are on show in ‘The Wandering Lake, 2009-2017’ @theicala.
